This Privacy Policy explains how Stanton & Sons LLC ("Stanton & Sons", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information when you visit stantonandsons.com, make a purchase, or otherwise interact with us (the "Services"). It also describes the choices and rights available to you.
Please read it carefully. By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
1. Personal Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you interact with us.
Information you provide directly
- Contact details — name, email address, phone number, billing address, shipping address.
- Order and payment information — items purchased, order value, payment method, and the payment confirmation returned to us by our payment processor. We do not store full payment card numbers on our systems; card data is collected and processed directly by our payment providers.
- Account information — username, password, saved preferences and addresses, if you create an account.
- Communications — the content of emails, chat messages, reviews, survey responses and support requests you send us.
- Marketing preferences — your email and SMS subscription status and consent records.
Information collected automatically
- Device and connection data — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, language settings.
- Usage data — pages viewed, products viewed and added to cart, referring website, search terms used on our site, timestamps, and how you navigate the Services.
- Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 4.
- Approximate location — derived from your IP address, used for currency, tax and fraud purposes. We do not collect precise GPS location.
Information from other sources
- Our e-commerce platform, payment processors, shipping carriers and fraud-prevention providers.
- Advertising and analytics partners, including social media platforms, where you have interacted with our ads.
- Marketing partners and publicly available sources.
2. How We Use Personal Information
- To fulfill your orders — process payments, arrange shipping and delivery, handle returns, exchanges and refunds, and send transactional messages such as order confirmations and shipping updates.
- To provide customer support — respond to your questions, resolve issues and maintain records of our correspondence.
- To operate and improve the Services — understand how our site is used, diagnose technical problems, test new features and improve our products and merchandising.
- To market to you — send promotional emails and, where you have opted in, SMS messages; show you advertising on other websites and social platforms; and measure the performance of that advertising.
- To personalize your experience — remember your cart and preferences and recommend products likely to be relevant to you.
- To prevent fraud and protect security — verify orders, detect and investigate fraudulent, unauthorized or unlawful activity, and protect our rights, property and users.
- To comply with law — meet tax, accounting and record-keeping obligations, respond to lawful requests from public authorities, and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
3. How We Disclose Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We disclose personal information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. Companies that perform services on our behalf, including our e-commerce platform, hosting providers, payment processors, fraud-screening services, order fulfillment and warehousing partners, shipping carriers, email and SMS platforms, customer support tools, review platforms and analytics providers. They are permitted to use the information only to provide services to us.
- Advertising and analytics partners. We share certain identifiers and activity data with advertising platforms so that we can show you relevant ads and measure results. Under some U.S. state privacy laws this is considered a "sale" or a "share" for cross-context behavioral advertising. See Sections 4 and 7 for how to opt out.
- Professional advisers. Accountants, auditors, insurers and lawyers, where necessary.
- Legal and safety. Where we believe disclosure is required by law, subpoena, court order or other legal process, or is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of Stanton & Sons, our customers or others, or to investigate suspected fraud.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization or sale of all or part of our assets, including during due diligence.
- With your direction or consent. Where you ask us to share information with a third party.
4. Cookies, Tracking Technologies and Your Signals
We and our partners use cookies, pixels, SDKs, local storage and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your cart and preferences, measure traffic, and deliver and measure advertising.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking or deleting cookies may affect how parts of the site work — for example, your cart may not persist between visits.
You can also opt out of interest-based advertising through industry tools such as the Network Advertising Initiative (optout.networkadvertising.org) and the Digital Advertising Alliance (optout.aboutads.info), and through the ad settings offered by individual platforms.
Global Privacy Control. If you visit our site with the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal enabled in your browser or extension, we treat that signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for that browser and device. Learn more at globalprivacycontrol.org. We do not currently respond to other "Do Not Track" signals, as no common standard has been adopted for them.
5. Marketing Communications
Email. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any marketing email, or by contacting us. We will still send you transactional messages about orders you have placed.
SMS. If you have opted in to text messages, you can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for assistance. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Consent to receive marketing texts is not a condition of any purchase. Our full SMS terms are set out in our Terms of Service.
6. Retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. In practice this means:
- Order and transaction records — retained for the period required by applicable tax and accounting rules, generally at least seven years.
- Account information — retained while your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards.
- Marketing data — retained until you unsubscribe, and for a limited period afterwards to honor your opt-out.
- Support correspondence — retained for as long as needed to resolve your matter and to defend potential claims.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:
- Right to know or access the personal information we hold about you, and how we use and disclose it.
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to delete personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to data portability — receive a copy of your information in a portable format.
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising.
- Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information, where applicable.
- Right to non-discrimination — we will not deny you goods or services, charge you a different price, or provide a different level of quality because you exercised a privacy right.
- Right to appeal — if we decline your request, you may appeal that decision.
How to submit a request
Email contact@stantonandsons.com with the subject line "Privacy Request", and tell us which right you wish to exercise. To appeal a decision, use the subject line "Privacy Appeal".
We will acknowledge your request promptly and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. Before we act, we must verify your identity — we will typically ask you to confirm information already in our records, such as the email address used to place an order, an order number, or the date of a recent purchase. We may decline a request where we cannot reasonably verify who you are.
Authorized agents. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We will require written proof of the agent's authority and may still ask you to verify your identity with us directly.
8. Notice for California Residents
This section applies to California residents and supplements the rest of this Privacy Policy. It is provided under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended.
Categories of personal information collected in the past 12 months
- Identifiers — name, postal address, email address, phone number, IP address, account name, unique and online identifiers.
- Customer records information (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e)) — name, address, telephone number, and payment-related information.
- Commercial information — products viewed, added to cart, purchased, returned or considered, and purchasing history.
- Internet or other electronic network activity — browsing and search activity on our site, and interaction with our emails, ads and site.
- Geolocation data — approximate location derived from IP address. We do not collect precise geolocation.
- Inferences — preferences and characteristics derived from the above, used for merchandising and advertising.
- Sensitive personal information — account log-in credentials, where you create an account. We use this only to provide the Services, secure your account and prevent fraud. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than those permitted under Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.121, and we do not sell or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We collect these categories from the sources described in Section 1, for the purposes described in Section 2, and disclose them to the categories of recipients described in Section 3. We retain them as described in Section 6.
Sale and sharing
We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. However, our use of advertising and analytics cookies means that identifiers, commercial information, internet activity and inferences may be "shared" for cross-context behavioral advertising, and may constitute a "sale" as broadly defined under California law.
To opt out, email us with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information", or browse our site with the Global Privacy Control signal enabled (see Section 4).
We do not have actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
Shine the Light
California Civil Code § 1798.83 permits California residents to request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for those third parties' own direct marketing purposes. We do not make such disclosures.
9. Notice for Residents of Other U.S. States
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws — including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana and others — may exercise the rights described in Section 7, including the right to opt out of targeted advertising and the sale of personal information, and the right to appeal a denied request. We honor the Global Privacy Control as an opt-out signal.
10. Children's Privacy
The Services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and our products are not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and payment processing by PCI-compliant providers.
No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you have an account, you are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for any activity under your account. Notify us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.
12. Where Your Information Is Processed
Stanton & Sons LLC is based in the United States, and personal information we collect is processed and stored in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
13. Third-Party Websites
The Services may link to websites we do not operate, including social media platforms and payment providers. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where required by law, provide additional notice. The version in effect at the time you provided your information will generally govern that information.
